Puglia really is my travel destination of choice. Since I've been with Luka, we've spent a large part of our July there, so I've had the opportunity to travel the length and breadth of the region. In this article, I'll share with you some of the best restaurants that I've already had the chance to try out during my travels in Puglia.
Best restaurants in Salento, Puglia
Salento is my husband's home region. So we really have our own habits in the area, with a preference for typical, family-run restaurants. In the rest of the article, you can discover all the places we've already had the chance to try out, as well as those we've been recommended for a trip to Puglia.
Where to eat in Otranto
- ArborVitae ⏤ lunch ⏤ $$: Small haven of peace within the walls of Otranto. Mainly seafood and fish. Delicious but prices a little high.
- Masseria Bandino ⏤ diner ⏤ $: This restaurant is also a hotel located in Otranto. You can stop here for a delicious dinner!
- Osteria Origano ⏤ diner ⏤ $$: Traditional but a little spicy. You don't pay for the wine, they serve you their production for tasting (and the wines are crazy, I recommend you buy some if you get the chance).
- Matisse ⏤ Uggiano la Chesia ⏤ diner ⏤ $$: Traditional restaurant but a little more chic and spicy. Perfect for a romantic evening.
Where to eat in Santa Cesarea di Terme
- Est ⏤ apero/diner ⏤ $: The 4-star hotel is located 40 km from Lecce and offers quality cuisine. A place not to be missed!
- Augustus Resort ⏤ lunch ⏤ $: This hotel also serves as a restaurant. You can find out more about this address in this article dedicated to the best hotels in Puglia.
- Bagno Marino Archi ⏤ diner ⏤ $: Pizza with a sea view!
- La Pizzica ⏤ Andrano ⏤ lunch ⏤ $: A very nice place to stop off at lunchtime for a bite to eat. A seafood-only restaurant.
- Bar da Carlo ⏤ Porto Badisco ⏤ lunch/dinner ⏤ $: Seafood and fish restaurant. Perfect for a quick and delicious lunch.

Where to eat in Supersano
- Masseria Pizzofalcone ⏤ diner ⏤ $: Typical traditional masseria. It's also a hotel with affordable rooms and well placed for visiting southern Salento.
- Le Stanzie ⏤ diner ⏤ $$: A must do in this region of Puglia and clearly one of my favourite restaurants! Menu based on the day's harvests (everything is produced on site), with typical dishes as if you were eating at home. Sublime terrace, romantic atmosphere typical of the south. Suitable for friends, family or lovers! Beware, it's very popular, so book several weeks in advance, and sometimes even several months in advance in high season.

Where to eat in Tricase
- Taverna del Porto ⏤ Tricase ⏤ lunch ⏤ $$: Delicious fish restaurant with sea views!
- Caffè d'Oltremare ⏤ Tricase ⏤ lunch ⏤ $$: Restaurant serving dishes to share with a view of the sea. A sumptuous setting!

Best restaurants in Puglia : the Itria Valley
These addresses cover the regions of Ostuni, Monopoli, Polignano A Mare and the surrounding villages and countryside. The region is much more touristy than Salento, so prices are higher. It's also more crowded, so it's best to plan ahead when booking restaurants and hotels if you want to visit this part of Puglia!
Where to eat in Ostuni
- Sapere & Sapori ⏤ lunch/dinner ⏤ $: We stopped here by chance to have lunch. The cime di rape and polpette orchiette were incredible. Really good to grab a bite for lunch or dinner.
- Osteria Del Tempo Perso ⏤ diner ⏤ $$: Ultra-typical place, dining in a grotto typical of the town of Ostuni. Rather popular with tourists, but really typical and a must-do during a stay in Puglia.
- Cielo ⏤ diner ⏤ $$$$: Michelin-starred restaurant, never tried by me but apparently a must-do.
- Borgo Antico bistrot ⏤ diner ⏤ $$: This restaurant serves Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. You can enjoy lunch, brunch or dinner here.
- Masseria Il Frantoio ⏤ diner ⏤ $$$: Traditional masseria offering a set menu, preceded by a tour of the estate and explanations of the region. A bit touristy, but we had a great evening and delicious food. It's also a hotel, surrounded by olive and citrus groves and not far from the sea.
- Burro Café ⏤ breakfast/coffee ⏤ $$: New café that opened a few weeks ago in the centre of Ostuni. We stopped there for a coffee and it was really delicious! They also offer Viennese pastries and other pastries, so it's a great place for breakfast or a snack break.
- Riccardo Caffè ⏤ bar ⏤ $$: Poufs in staircases, great place for an aperitif.
- Abc apulian bistrot ⏤ bar ⏤ $$: Cosy place (small tables and poufs on the stairs) for a drink and a bite to eat (not ultra "typical", a bit touristy).
- Borgo Egnazia ⏤ hotel/restaurant ⏤ $$$: Restaurant within a large hotel. Here you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine! Note, however, that prices are very high for the region. I'll tell you more about it in this article, which lists my favourite hotels and airbnbs in Puglia. Don't hesitate to consult it to prepare your trip!
