How to dress in Marrakech?

This is a question that I’ve often been asked, I too was a little confused as to my Marrakech outfits. Okay, you are not in Europe, so yes you cannot dress as you would in European cities. If you go out in the Medina, you have to go out covered, mainly and most importantly legs and arms. It is inconvenient, especially when it is hot, and I must confess that sometimes I was out in the Medina with a cleavage or bare arms. But if you want to be able to walk at ease, I strongly recommend that you wear something long that covers your legs or your arms. Leave behind the idea to go out in mini shorts or wearing a crop top. You are in a country that has a culture quite different from yours, and that is something you must respect.

If you do not have to walk down the street, and for example only go by taxi to the restaurant, you can dare a little more and go out in a little dress. If you are in your villa, your riad or hotel, you can clearly dress as you want as you are on private property.

Remember to bring jackets or sweaters with you for the evenings. At night, the temperatures go down quite fast, so you have to cover yourself. In the morning it is also relatively cool, so you should also wear a jacket if you leave for an early trip.
