Westwing sofa Melva: my opinion after 1 year of use

I personally opted for the Melva model in the 4-seater corner sofa version in grey fabric. In this article, I will give you my opinion on this sofa which has found its place perfectly in my living room and especially how it survives the everyday life! Thanks to its modern and pure design, the Melva sofa goes with all styles of interior decoration! I think it has an ultra premium and qualitative look, it really makes a wow effect in the room.
Classic sofa, corner sofa, 2 seater, 3 seater, 4 seater... It is available in many different colours, shapes and models! So you can choose the modules that suit your interior the best. With its deep seat and its very low arms, it gives it a very pure side that I personally love!
Comfort at its best
In my opinion, the main quality of this sofa is its exceptional comfort with its soft padding and feather cushions! I love to sit on it in the evening after a long day at work and relax while watching a good film or series.
Easy care
The Melva sofa from Westwing is also very practical. Its elegant arms and solid wood legs make it very solid and durable. I also chose it for its removable cover, which makes it very easy to clean. I can enjoy my sofa with complete peace of mind, without having to worry about stains and accidents. And considering how clumsy I am, it's really needed!
Choosing the right colour
For my Melva Westwing sofa I chose the colour "grey fabric". Beware that if you want a sofa in warm tones, this one is not the case at all! I find the title "grège" confusing and implies that it contains warm tones when the sofa is in a relatively cool grey. I was a bit surprised when I received it, but in the end it's even better than if it had a warm undertones. I thought it was important to tell you this so that you don't get surprised and disappointed when you buy it!
It comes in a lot of colours but I have never seen it in others. I'm planning to get it in a darker colour for my office and I'll keep you posted! I'm sure you'll find it very useful to have a look at the reviews on the Westwing website, they are many and can help you to choose.
The Westwing Melva sofa, its disadvantages
A hard seat
Although I personally find it very comfortable, I have to say that the seat of the Melva sofa is quite hard. This means that it may not be suitable for people who like very soft sofas that you sink into. Of course, it's all a question of taste and habits, and just because it suits me perfectly doesn't mean it will suit you...
If I can compare it to other sofas I've had (notably the Gronlid from Ikea) it's really 3 to 4 times harder. Personally I LOVE it but that's a matter of personal taste I guess. The seat is also deep and low, which prevents you from really sitting in the back of the chair. I personally don't mind it, I'm always a bit reclined in the chair but it's good to know depending on your daily use.
A volume that is not suitable for small spaces
Like many Westwing sofas, the Melva is quite large and above all very deep. This is not ideal if you need to furnish a small space. It takes up a lot of space and can quickly clutter up the room if it is not placed properly. So think carefully about the space you need to furnish and take the necessary measurements to choose a sofa that will best suit your living room!
Cleaning your Melva sofa
I find cleaning this sofa really easy! I vacuum it once a week with my Dyson hoover, which works great to remove the little dirt, dust and Arlette's hair that accumulates every day. Therefore, the sofa is always clean!
When there's a really big stain or I'm doing a big spring clean, I use a Bissell spotter. It's a machine that cleans the sofa with water without soaking it. The system is super simple and ultra fast: you run the machine over the sofa once to send hot water and remove the dirt, then a second time to suck up the water and send it to the dirty water tank. And bim, magic! The sofa comes out all clean and shiny! In addition to sofas, the Bissell can also be used to clean carpets, cushions, mattresses, etc. You don't realise how dirty a fabric can be even if it looks "clean".
The other elements that make up my living room decor
- My coffee table is from Westwing too. It's a square table with a travertine look. It's actually made of wood, but it really makes an impact! Plus, it's super easy to clean, so no stress of damaging travertine!
- The rug is the "Mary Ivory" model from Benuta! It's been there since we moved in two years ago and it's spotless.
- The books are from Taschen. A great value!
- The bronze vase is a Westwing too.
- The brown linen cushions are from Westwing and the beige woven cushions too.
- The green pouf is from Roche Bobois. I put it on when this part of the flat goes into spring mode!
- The green linen cushions are from H&M home.
