Heading to the heart of the Italian boot to have a drink on the best rooftops in Rome with a breathtaking view of the Roman city! Surrounded by 7 hills, you can't stay here without climbing one of them to appreciate the spectacular view of the Eternal City. It's time to pack your bags for a few days of holiday with delicious restaurants, tasty cocktails and sun-filled wine at the top of the most beautiful Roman hotels! These rooftop restaurants and rooftop bars in Rome are a new way for you to discover this city with a rich cultural heritage. It's time to get some perspective and discover new landscapes. Here is a summary of the best rooftop addresses not to be missed in Rome!
Located in the centre of Rome, this rooftop is a unanimous favourite place to go for a drink! I loved the 180 degree view one surrounding rooftops and the greatest monuments of the Roman city from this city hotel. This terrace, offering a panoramic view, is the perfect place to eat and enjoy cocktails while admiring a beautiful sunset. The Italian cuisine is divine! I recommend the small dishes to share and the cocktails which are a real killer (I especially like their Italian-style gyozas)! At the end of the day, a DJ discretely sets up the atmosphere on the terrace. The only downside: "pay your view"! You have to have a small budget to go there, I got 120€ for two cocktails and small dishes to share.

The Chapter Roma hotel, in the heart of Rome, has a rooftop terrace with a breathtaking view of the city! The main aim of this place is to make its guests travel and live a Mexican / Italian fusion experience. I loved the decoration of the rooftop with its subtropical look. A relaxed Mexican atmosphere gives you the opportunity to spend an evening in this luxurious and trendy place! Take a quick roadtrip to Central America just for one evening! The place is small and very popular, so don't forget to book your spot before you go!

The rooftop offers one of Rome's most captivating panoramic views above the Hotel Raphael in the heart of the Eternal City. The view stretches from the roofs of St. Peter's to the Castel Sant'Angelo, the Quirinal Palace and the Spanish Steps. You will also see the winding line of the Tiber, the third longest Italian river, which runs through Rome. This rooftop offers organic and also seasonal dishes!

Relatively unknown to mass tourism, you can admire the skyline and the view of the Borghese Gardens from the rooftop restaurant of the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese. The contemporary design by French architect Jean-Philippe Nuel is perfect for enjoying a French touch in the centre of Rome. We highly recommend this place to dine and note that vegetarians will find their happiness here! The place is more than exceptional at sunset and many parties are organised on summer weekends. It's a perfect secret hideaway in Rome!

A little off-centre, the Mama Shelter rooftop is the perfect place to have a casual drink. It offers a breathtaking view of Rome's rooftops and St. Peter's Basilica! Its signature cocktails and homemade food are worth the trip. There is a festive atmosphere at this Roman rooftop bar where travellers and locals mingle with a spritz in hand.

On this rooftop you can admire Piazza Navona from an angle you never imagined! This ultra chic rooftop bar will transport you to another world. Go there at sunset, magical atmosphere guaranteed. I recommend going to Terraza Borromini for a drink but not to eat (we didn't enjoy our lunch at all). The prices are obviously high (about 20 euros per person for a cocktail) but it's worth it. Note that the place is very popular, you have to go in advance to go there, especially on weekends. They also have a hotel and a restaurant.

Still in the Borghese Gardens area, we greatly enjoyed our evening on the rooftop of the Hotel Splendide Royal. The scenery over Rome is again breathtaking. We were able to get a table easily, without a reservation, notably because we went there drunig low season. So I recommend you to make a reservation if you go there on weekends or in high season! The decoration is modern, the cocktails delicious (although expensive ... but you'll have understood that's a bit of a common theme in this post - expensive cocktails), and they brought us a plate of appetizers (free!) to nibble on with our cocktails which was much appreciated.
