For a first trip in the Big Apple, I would advise you to stay in Midtown or Meat Packing to be the closest to the main tourist activities. By these, I mean :\r
\r
\r
A visit to Central park\r
heading to Time Square\r
visit the Rockfeller Center and go to the Top of the Rock\r
visit Summit One Vanderbilt\r
attending a Broadway Show\r
walk down the 5th AvenuePS : if you are looking for a lot of activities, I recommend the New York City Pass ! \r
\r
\r
On the other hand, if you have already had the opportunity to visit New York for the first time, I advise you to look for an accommodation a bit further from Downtown. This will allow you to discover NY from another angle.\r
The ideal plan in my opinion? If you are going for a full week, book 4 nights in Midtown first and then 3 nights in another area. Whether it\\’s Soho or Brooklyn, discover another part of New York City! It\\’ll feel like two trips in one.\r
\r

hide

READ MORE: NYC CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES
https://milkywaysblueyes.com/en/what-to-do-in-new-york-at-christmas-best-activities/
left
2
center
hide

Our favourite accommodation in New York
\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
For this 3rd trip to NYC, we decided to stay 4 nights in Soho and 3 nights in Brooklyn. This combination was more than perfect and really gave us the impression of doing 2 trips in 1!\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
\r

Where to stay in New-York : Soho
\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
The great thing about staying in Soho is that you can get anywhere very quickly! The neighbourhood is perfect for enjoying the advantages of Manhattan while avoiding the disadvantages of Midtown. If you are an early riser, don\\’t hesitate to go for a walk in the city before it wakes up! The walk is magical! Where to stay in New York in this area? For this first part of our trip, we stayed at the Bowery Hotel. This establishment was really a great choice, even though it could use a little refurbishment. With its \\”old school style\\” and rooms dating from the 50s, it will not suit those who like modernity. However, the comfort is there: the rooms are spacious, the bath is huge and I could have spent my day in the bed because it was so comfortable. \r
\r
\r
\r
\r
\r

Where to stay in New-York : Brooklyn
\r
For the rest of the stay, we headed to Brooklyn! This neighbourhood is much calmer, with artistic vibes. So it was the perfect place to end the stay and digest the Manhattan rush. We stayed at a luxury hotel, the 1hotel Central Park, a hotel with an incredible view on Manhattan ! And I mean that in the best possible way! The hotel has an eco-responsible vision, which is quite rare in the United States. The hotel really offers a quality stay (FREE wine tasting every day between noon and 5pm, so it was a paradise for the aperitif haha) but you have to take into account the trips to Manhattan and the fact that the underground serves less places so the trips can be longer.\r
\r

My personal advice
\r
Don\\’t take the \\”included breakfast\\” at your hotel! They are often expensive and not really qualitative. There are so many cool places to have breakfast in New York City that it would be a shame to limit yourself to a classic continental buffet! I give you some brunch addresses to try in New York in this article. We tok once the breakfast at our hotel, at the 1 hotel, and it was frankly total disappointment… We had a jar of coffee, 3 defrosted croissants and pains au chocolat and 10 slices of bread with a jar of jam for …. You can clearly find great brunches in New York – and get them for $70 and breakfast like kings & queens!

full
Where to stay in New York

full
Where to stay in New York

full
Where to stay in New York

Luxury Hotel prices in NYC
\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
I must admit that each time I go to NYC, I am always a bit shocked by the prices in the Big Apple. For similar services, be prepared to pay at least twice as much as in Europe! That\\’s a clear difference in budget.\r
\r
In addition to the rather high prices, don\\’t forget that the communicated tariffs do not include taxes or tips. For hotels, taxes are normally added automatically at the time of booking to avoid surprises. But remember this if you are going to a restaurant, for example. As far as tips are concerned, you should not add them in hotels but in other establishments such as restaurants. When you get the bill, you should pay attention. \r
To reduce your costs, the best thing to do is to get to NYC outside the school holidays.
